Our level of "divisiveness" shouldn really hold much sway when it comes to amendments because the process to start them is such a high bar that the issues tend to be nationally agreed upon or at least close thereto. Plus both sides get to offer shit up at a constitutional convention so it not like the minority party would be completely opposed wigs for women.
